“My music video was created around an original, instrumental piece created by me and uses visuals of city timelapses to display the risk of the fast paced nature of city life. I have been looking into the idea of a “burnout society” and how damaging competitive, service-oriented societies can be for the individuals living in them. All of the footage is taken from royalty free stock footage archives except for the overlaid footage that appeared throughout the film. My idea behind this piece was to first display the mundane and draining effect that the city can have on the individuals who live there. The footage was black and white, with a fluid overlay displaying the rhythm of the city. However, as the film went on there became this overseeing “hand” that presented itself and demanded more from the city, causing colors to begin to spill as the people began to burnout. These colors continue to spill and distort the city to the point where it is almost indistinguishable. The final shot slows the rhythm back down and returns the footage from the beginning, showing how the cycle is resetting and that it is inevitable that burnouts will continue to happen unless there is change.” - Zola
